[LUXURIOUS FULL MOROCCO BINDING]

Imperial folio, the text folios and plate broadsheets mounted on stubs (20-5/8 x 15-1/4 in. overall, the paper 20-1/8 x 14 in., 51 x 35.5 cm). Collates [2 ll.], 2 ll. (half-title and title), 44 pp. (text and table of plates), [2 ll.], with 50 ll. separate monochrome engraved plates, printed on chine laid onto engraved blind-paneled mounts rectos only, and engraved headpieces, opening letters and tailpieces and 23 engraved figures in the text, the text pages and plate mounts on fine heavy wove paper mounted on stubs. Full recent royal blue morocco over boards, the covers with all-over gilt fleurs-de-lis within four rules, spine gilt in six ruled compartments, one with title, five with fleurs-de-lis, French curl pattern marbled endpapers, gilt dentelles with fleur-de-lis roll, top edges gilt, other edges rough cut. Overall fine, a few negligible nicks or scrapes on the covers, the spine almost imperceptibly sunned, the text pages, plates and mounts impeccable (plates XXXV – L bound before plates I – XXXIV, as compiled by the original binder).
