Large folio (17-7/8 x 11-3/4 in.), pp. xi + 878 + xxvii. Bound in full crimson morocco by Francis Bedford (his stamp lower front dentelle), gilt titles and elaborate decoration to spine, gilt decorative rules and panels to covers, gilt inner dentelles, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. 69 full-page engravings, 5 engraved folding plates, and numerous other text illustrations, some nearly full-page. Slight wear to spine joints, few negligible stains to covers, dampstain on blank verso of errata leaf, otherwise fine, a beautiful copy with crisp and clean paper, the plates sparkling.

The second, much enlarged and wholly preferred edition of this work, originally sponsored by Charles II, by the noted English genealogist, Francis Sandford, revised and supplemented onward from 1677 to 1707 by Samuel Stebbing. The engravings are principally by Hollar and Gaywood. A stunning example, superbly bound by Bedford, of the large paper issue of only 25 copies.
